ROBERT NEIL MERRELL Robert Neil passed away suddenly on Monday, April 23, 2001 at the age of 83 years. Survived by his loving family: one daughter Linda Lumbard (Reid) of Brandon, Man.; two sons, Brent Merrell (Francine) of Minneapolis, USA, Richard Merrell (Tammy) of Winnipeg; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, one sister Wilma Oliver (Mel Burr) of Salmon Arm and extended family. Sadly predeceased by his wife Muriel in 1996. Neil was born on November 11, 1917 in Dauphin, Man. where he completed high school and worked for the Dauphin Herald and Eatons until he joined the RCAF in 1941. He was discharged from the Air Force as a Flying Officer after completing three years as a flying instructor. Neil and Muriel were married in 1941 in Ladner, B.C. and upon discharge from the Air Force, they settled in Brandon and Neil rejoined Eatons. He was transferred to Eatons in Winnipeg from where he retired in 1977. Muriel and Neil moved to Kelowna in 1988 where they met many friends and enjoyed the community spirit in Sunrise Village. A celebration of Neils life will be held on Friday, April 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Sun Rise Village Recreation Center, 1260 Raymer Ave., Kelowna. Interment to follow in Winnipeg, Man. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of ones choice. Funeral arrangements by SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME 250-860-7077.
